ABOUT US

St. Ezekiel Moreno Dormitory (SEMD) is an innovative educational set-up that delivers quality holistic education to the poorest youth of the last frontier of the Philippines.

It is located in a far-flung rural parish community in Baranggay Macarascas, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

SEMD is conceived by the vision and passion of two religious men: Bishop Broderick Pabillo, D.D.,SDB and Fr. Rogelio Alarcon, O.P.:

to give the same education which is accessible only to the middle and upper class students also to

the most marginalized young boys and girls of the Philippine society who are denied of their birthright due to poverty which is not of their own making.

Together with a network of Catholic private educational institutions, religious congregations, NGOs, and generous and concerned citizens,

the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, pool both material and human resources so that, 78 girls and boys from the parish of St. Ezekiel Moreno, are given the opportunity to pursue a good education, their only chance to uplift their family from poverty.

Today, SEMD is a field of dreams for …

  • high school students who aspire for quality life through quality education

  • professionals who have the passion to serve the poorest of the poor by the sharing of their talents and time, through volunteerism

  • NGOs, educational and religious institutions which envision themselves to be a synergy of hope, and to be a dynamic Church, working and building together a just and more humane world.
